[source: wiikey.cn] Good news for those of you who have emailed us asking about GC support on SD card in Wiikey Fusion! A small bug fix to the Wiikey Fusion The popular WBFS Manager application has now been updated to version 4.0 and includes full support for adding GC images to SD cards formatted with the WBFS filesystem. Because of the way it does this, a minor update to Wiikey Fusion has also been necessary. You can download both the new WBFS Manager and the Wiikey Fusion v1.3 update in the members area.

This is the trick used by Datel to boot their discs (eg. Action Replay) in unmodified GameCube's, now explained in detail. At this point I'm not sure if this leads closer to create bootable discs (as if original) on your own, but he has my full attention from now on. o_O Deja vu Dreamcast! This release adds a recommendation function to games and videos in the playstation store according to Eric Lempel (and still removes 'Other OS' in fat PS3 consoles if anyone cares). This time there is a new smaller PS3PATCH.PUP file available along with the usual PS3UPDAT.PUP which I suspect is an incremental patch. Check this topic in the ps3 tech forum for hacking related info and download links. I have updated the Ps3OsRels wiki as usual."

[source: dhewg @ hackmii.com] After more than four weeks we believe we’ve finally reached the point for the next public release of the HackMii Installer: v0.7. A lot of changes and improvements went into this release. After quite some headaches and a few puzzles (thanks Erant!) we stockpiled over 250 commits since v0.6, increasing the compatibility with even more Wiis. The installer now works completely differently, The Homebrew Channel got a few new features and a new look, and BootMii received a fair amount of minor improvements too.

To get a taste of his N64 coding skills, check the collection of top notch homebrew games/demos here. For an introduction to the project you can watch this video over at YouTube from January 2010 where marshallh got the design working for the first time on his FPGA dev board after spending lots of time translating his idea into Verilog code. Below is a recent photo of the final PCB fitting nicely into a N64 cart.

[source: helldoc.blogspot.com via xbox-scene.com] Testing is underway and things are looking amazing!! There's still some visual issue : A tab sometime appears blue, seems to be some threading issue with our skin xml loading... If your content list is pretty much empty issues is not seen.... Copy DVD is working fine, but skin needs some work. In the profile tab, the gamertag is misaligned. HTTP downloader is 100% stable, all of my content seems to get scanned fine ( i got lots of extracted games and xbla games. GOD and homebrew should list fine too, will test later. Will post some screenshot later today. About the SVN log not working anymore, it seems like there some issue with our website, just go to http://trac.teamfsd.com/log and you'll see whats going on.

[source: wiikey.cn] Our photographer has just come back from Cambodia with the latest photos from the Wiikey Outreach Project. For those of your unfamiair with the project, work was started to rennovate and repair Classroom block A of Anuwitayalai Prey Srolit School in Cambodia back in January. There have been a number of delays along the way, but all have been overcome and we are all very proud of the progress made so far. All of this was done by using a portion of the proceeds from Wiikey sales in 2009.

[source: Bushing @ hackmii.com] It's been a quiet few months around here - Nintendo seems to have been neglecting the Wii. We expected to see a firmware update bundled with Super Mario Galaxy 2, but found no such thing - however, a few weeks later, we have ourselves a brand new 4.3 update.

modrobert writes: "Nintendo has released Wii System Menu 4.3 which seems to pack a number of unpleasant features so I recommend avoiding it for now. Here are some of the changes according to wiibrew.org: Deletes the Homebrew Channel and DVDX, title IDs HAXX, DVDX, JODI, DISC, and DISK. Now uses IOS80. IOS254 stubbed BootMii is deleted. Fixed Bannerbomb less stupidly this time. Added IOS58. HackMii Installer Userland+Syscall IOS exploit removed. NANDFS privilege escalation fixed. ES_AddTitleFinish now checks the signature (Trucha Bug Restorer and similar won't work anymore). Officially the update seems nice enough, quote: 'This update provides behind-the-scenes fixes that will not affect features but will improve the overall system performance.' Knowing Nintendo the exact opposite is true for those of us using homebrew or soft hacks, not sure if modchips are affected yet."

[source: wiikey.cn] To help users who have had a bad flash while upgrading their Wiikey Fusion (ie: if the power went out in the middle of updating) we have made a Recovery Image available in the members area. This update provides the same firmware update as the regular Wiikey Fusion Update v1.2 released on 8th June, but it runs in recovery mode. Use this only if you are unable to apply the regular v1.2 update. Be sure to read the readme.txt instructions carefully before installing, as it requires more steps than a regular Wiikey Fusion update.

The moment is here - starting tomorrow, high-definition stereoscopic 3D gaming will be available in your very own living rooms! As you already know, all PlayStation 3 systems are already equipped with everything they need to play stereoscopic 3D games. Thanks to a free firmware update released this past April [editors note: which also crippled the system by removing 'Other OS'], the PS3 system is the only console on the market that can support full stereoscopic 3D gaming - right from your living room, and with no additional charge.' Christofer Sundberg over at Avalanche Studios recently commented on 3D gaming in an interview and I think he is right, even if I doubt any game would benefit from 3D. Quote: 'Some games will benefit from it and some will not. The industry needs more better games, stop releasing crappy movie license games and stop trusting new tech stuff and gadgets to save it from coming to a creative halt.'"

[source: wiikey.cn] Hot on the heels of the 1.1 update last week, we have just released v1.2 of the Wiikey Fusion code. This update fixes a few bugs that some users have been experiencing: namely a bug causing some DVDs not to eject when the eject button is pressed and another bug causing the flash update to fail/freeze is the SW3 dip switch is accidentally in the OFF position. This update also makes some improvements to the alignment of the selection menu cursor. You can download this update from the members area.

[source: wiikey.cn] In response to feedback from users of the new Wiikey Fusion chip, we have released an update. This update can be applied by SD card, without the need of an external programming device. The update can be found in the members area. You will need to register your Wiikey Fusion serial number in order to download this update. This helps us to be sure that we are only giving support to our own loyal customers in case any counterfeit Wiikey Fusion chips ever appear in the future. This update, Version 1.1 of the Wiikey fusion code fixes one bug causing DVD games to loop back to the system menu before starting, and another bug whereby SD cards are not properly detected and the last game played from DVD show up in disc channel instead of the Wiikey Fusion menu.

[source: wiikey.cn] A beta release for the original Wiikey 1 modchip is now available in the members area. This update fixes the 3X DVD issue and adds NSMB BCA support. Please be sure to read the readme.txt file contained within the archive and please send feedback to us about how well it works so that we can hurry and make the final release available. As a Wiikey 1 user, you can now confidently brag to your friends by saying that you own the single longest-supported Wii modchip in the world! Released back in 2007, the original Wiikey 1 modchip is still receiving updates and is fully compatible with the latest copy protection systems. All other Wii modchips from the same era have died and been forgotten, but Wiikey 1 lives on! Thank you for your support in making this happen.

[source: xbmc.org] XBMC (XBMP really) started as a program for modified XBOX consoles. In the following years, XBMC has grown into a multi-platform, multi-architecture media center that runs on most standard hardware. The hardware and legal limitations of the XBOX were always a concern and the Team has instead focused on running on the hardware that most people already have. The last official release for the XBOX by the XBMC team was Atlantis, over 18 months ago. Since then, one brave soul (Arnova) has been merging code from the main codebase into the XBOX branch in our repository. Because there were many users out there that took advantage of these updates, we had no problem with this. But times have changed. The XBOX has hard limits for what it can handle. Some users are satisfied with these limits, and we encourage them to use XBMC there if they are happy. But it is a popular misconception that official XBOX development is still taking place by the team, so we have decided to set it free. We have enough on our plates already, and worrying about a deprecated platform just increases our workload. A few days ago the XBOX branch was finally removed from our subversion repository.

[source: wiikey.cn] After an admittedly long delay, Wiikey Fusion will begin shipping this week, so our distributors will begin to receive stock as of early next week. Please be patient when dealing with your point of sale -- Wiikey Fusion sales have been astronomically high, so each distributor will have a lot of backorders to deal with. The Wiikey Fusion card will be supplied with a sleek case, which can be seen on the front page of wiikey.cn. The main reason for the delay in releasing Wiikey Fusion has been due to the perfecting of some great additional features, most notably WBFS and the "softcore" system. Having a softcore means that the only part of the chip that could ever possibly need a JTAG update is a very small portion of initial FPGA code. Everything else (the majority of the code) is in the softcore, which can be updated by SD card. We'd like to thank everyone for their patience and support while Wiikey Fusion was perfected. We hope that you will enjoy it!
